Established in 1878, Siberian State Medical University (SibMed) is a popular choice for Indian students studying MBBS in Russia. In 2017, it became the only flagship medical university in Russia.
SibMed is one of the few universities in Russia with its own multidisciplinary hospital. This greatly benefits both the teaching staff and students. About 80% of the teaching staff have academic degrees and titles, and 50% are practicing doctors. Besides the hospital, SibMed students train at a modern simulation center, which is one of only two centers in Russia accredited by the European Society for Simulation in Medicine (SESAM).
In 2015, SibMed became the first medical university in Russia to be accredited by the Skolkovo Technopark. It is also recognized by the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), and the National Medical Commission (NMC), among others.
