Semey State Medical University is among the largest medical universities in Kazakhstan, featuring its own hospital and branches in Pavlodar and Ust Kamenogorsk. It was established in 1953 with an initial enrollment of 320 students in the general medicine faculty. Over the years, its graduates have gone on to work successfully throughout Kazakhstan and internationally. Initially named Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute in 1952, the university later changed its name to Semey State Medical University, following orders from the Health Services Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan after more than four decades.
