Chechen State University began on February 7, 1938, as Grozny Teacher Training Institute with a two-year study period. It was reorganized into Chechen-Ingush State University on March 9, 1971, and named after Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy. On February 28, 1995, it was renamed Chechen State University. In 2011, it became the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education “Chechen State University”.
Today, about 15,000 full-time and part-time students study at Chechen State University, which has 10 faculties and four institutes.
The University’s Centre of Collective Use allows staff and students to conduct research in important areas of science and technology. It also provides services to external organizations and individuals on a commercial basis.
Chechen State University also supports the growth of small innovative businesses and the development of new technologies. The Technopark, a key part of the university’s innovation cluster, helps small and medium enterprises become independent, acquire scientific knowledge, innovations, and advanced technology, and bring them to the market.
